How to Find Your Real Self Again?

On the surface, it might seem an odd idea that you could actually be anything other than who you really are. But are you really being your authentic self? We generally think we are being genuine and wouldn’t think otherwise.

However, from the time we can talk, we’re being programmed to “fit in”. We are often stereotyped on the basis of sex, race, religion, and so forth. Stereotypes are deeply embedded within our culture. Men don’t cry… And assertive women are “unfeminine”, “bossy,” “bitches” or “whores”!

But its not just stereotyping.. Sometimes its our need to people please. A people pleaser is someone who tries hard to make others happy. We often go out of our way to please others, even if it is counterproductive to us. We often act the way we do because of our insecurities and lack of self-esteem.

We generally find ourselves conforming to the norms in order to please and gain the approval of the people we love, and who love us. But sometimes that means that you have to suppress who you really are inside. We torture ourselves just to fit in and we do this for so long, that in time, we actually lose sight of who we are! Ever asked yourself – Who Am I?

People sometimes live their life without asking themselves this vital question. And if they do ask, they generally have answers that include their worldly status. Your relationship with yourself is the most important relationship you’ll ever have. Without a healthy relationship with yourself, it’s practically impossible to have a healthy relationship with anyone else. Or be truly happy and contented within.
